Online Distance Learning Program

1. DESCRIPTION OF ONLINE  EDUCATION AT VCS.

As the education sector faces  the “New Normal“ in the delivery of learning, Veritas Catholic School is prepared and capable  in the delivery of online distance  learning to our VCS learning community. As a digital  school, VCS has designed a Digital Learning Program since 2016 and over the years, the school continuously upgrades and  innovates its program  to achieve  its objectives. 

Online  education in VCS  offers online learning with the use of  the school’s learning management system, stable internet infrastructure, rich sources of e-learning materials and learning gadgets. The school adapted  Online  Classes  using  Modified Hybrid,  a combination of Synchronous and Asynchronous  mode of learning. The  class is conducted either in real time (Synchronous) or within a time frame (Asynchronous) with the use of  digital tools and apps.   

VCS teachers are well-trained and equipped in the delivery of online classes, while our learners are all prepared and are already familiar with the online classes.  Parents are supportive and proud of the digital program of the school especially in times of learning disruption such as the lockdown period. Veritas continue to give  their children quality Catholic  education.

2. OVERVIEW OF THE ONLINE  EDUCATION in VCS

Academic innovation through our  Digital Learning Program has been in place since 2016. Our students have experienced a whole new learning environment through our digital program. With these, Veritas offers  Online  classes  for the school year 2020 – 2021 in response to DepEd calling all schools ready to offer  online education.  

Veritas started online learning in 2016, when the school included the Digital Learning Program as one of the keys in learning.  The Digital Learning  Program (DLP) of the school provides academic innovation in delivery of content, instruction and assessment. The e-learning systems are provided to our students from Grade 1  up to Grade 12. Learners can access e-books and other pertinent online instructional tools/assessments through  our learning management system and media.  Collaboration among teachers whether in school or at home is seamless through the  use of Google applications.  Parents have 24/7 access to their child’s progress anytime  and  anywhere.

Our students from Grades 4 – 12  have their  own learning gadgets  using  tablets and chromebooks  solely  for  learning purposes. Students from Grades 1-12  have their own official Gmail account provided by our Management Information System  (MIS) officer.

 

The student handbook, subject checklists, school calendars, and all school advisories, communication letters, reminders  and information dissemination are all  available  in the schools learning management system. 

Our teachers are Certified Google Educators and  continuously  attending  various training in the conduct of online  classes.

As a pioneer of  Digital Learning in the  South. The school has been the model of many small-to-medium-sized schools in the country. It  won the BRONZE Award in EduTech ASIA 2019 held in Singapore as one of the BEST SMART SCHOOLS in ASIA and was chosen as the winner for prestigious Outstanding Emerging School of the Year Award  by  the International  Education Summit and Awards 2020 in Bangkok Thailand.
